The person behind the practice

Curiosity, colour and a way of paying attention

Janet London is a Montréal artist, artisan, bodyworker and relationship coach. Her work moves between colour and conversation, material and emotion, always grounded in close observation and genuine human connection.

What began with drawing and painting has grown into a multidisciplinary practice. Each part feeds the others: art keeps her intuitive, plaster teaches patience, massage asks for presence, and coaching brings careful attention to the space between people.

For me, making something beautiful begins with noticing what is already asking to be seen.

01

A life shaped by making

Janet's work begins with the pleasure of making: the sweep of a brush, the resistance of a surface, the moment colour changes the feeling of a room. Her abstract paintings are intuitive and physical, built through movement, revision and an openness to what appears along the way.

Whether she is painting outdoors or standing among finished canvases, she returns to the same question: what becomes possible when we pay close attention? That curiosity has gradually carried her beyond the canvas and into the spaces, bodies and relationships people inhabit.

02

From surface to presence

Venetian plaster deepened Janet's relationship with surface. Massage brought that attention to the body. Relationship coaching brought it into conversation. These are different practices, but she approaches each with the same patience: listen before acting, notice what is already there, and work with it rather than against it.

A serious academic background informs the coaching work and her wider way of thinking: read carefully, question the obvious answer, and remain curious when something is complex. Her manner is warm and direct, with room for both seriousness and lightness.

03

An invitation to slow down

Janet likes to begin with tea and a real conversation. Before a commission, a wall, a massage or a series of coaching sessions, she wants to understand not only what someone is asking for, but how they hope it will feel.

The result is personal rather than formulaic: art made with a particular place in mind, walls that carry atmosphere, bodywork guided by careful presence, and conversations that help people hear one another differently.

Four practices

Different forms, one philosophy

Across every discipline, Janet creates the conditions for something to shift — a room, a body, a conversation, or simply the way we look.

01

Art

Original abstracts and continuous-line works led by gesture, colour and instinct.

02

Plaster

Atmospheric surfaces shaped by hand, light and the character of a space.

03

Massage

Quiet, intuitive bodywork that responds to the person on the table.

04

Coaching

Grounded conversations for couples and individuals seeking clearer connection.

London House

A working home in Outremont

London House is not a conventional gallery or clinic. It is Janet's working home: part art gallery, part plaster showroom, part studio and treatment space. Paintings live alongside pigments, tactile walls and the quiet room where clients are received.

Visits are arranged one at a time. The pace is intentionally unhurried, leaving room to look, talk and understand what might be the right next step.
